About the job

QA Tech Lead

(full remote within Hungary as contractor)

Our partner is one of the fastest-growing startups in the US, specializing in cutting-edge medical technology. Their talented team is transforming healthcare by making neurological diagnostics smarter and more efficient.

They are looking for a QA Tech Lead who combines strong technical testing expertise with leadership skills to guide both automation engineers and manual testers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality of our scalable, high-performance cloud-based solutions by defining testing strategies, driving automation, and mentoring the QA team. If you’re passionate about quality, enjoy solving complex problems, and love helping others grow while improving testing practices, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Lead & mentor: Provide technical guidance to automation engineers and manual testers, helping them improve their skills and adopt best practices.
  • Hands-on contributor: Actively participate in test design, automation, and exploratory testing when needed - leading by example.
  • Collaborate effectively: Work closely with developers, BAs, and product teams to ensure clear requirements, testability, and high-quality delivery.
  • Process improver: Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and coverage.
  • Technical communicator: Lead test planning, reviews, and discussions; clearly communicate quality risks, test results, and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot with skill: Identify, analyze, and help resolve defects in development and production environments, ensuring root cause analysis and prevention.

Requirements

  • Experienced QA professional: 5+ years of experience in software testing, including both manual and automated testing.
  • Automation expertise:Strong experience with test automation frameworks (especially Selenium) and scripting/programming (Java, JavaScript).
  • Leadership skills: Proven ability to lead or mentor QA engineers, providing both technical direction and career guidance.
  • Test strategy know-how: Experience defining test strategies, test plans, and quality metrics in complex, distributed systems.
  • API and system testing: Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices architectures, and integration testing.
  • Analytical mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality.
  • Excellent communicator: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts, testing strategies, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team player with a sense of humour: You’ll be working with some really nice folks. If you can crack a joke while solving complex problems, you’ll fit right in!
  • Fluent in Hungarian, and good command of English - you’ll be working with a team that’s mostly based in Hungary, so both languages are key!

Our partner offers

  • Work from anywhere (even in pyjamas!): They are a fully remote team, so whether you're coding from your favorite café, your living room, or a cozy corner in Hungary (where most of their team is based), you’re good to go.
  • Flexible Hours: Early bird? Night owl? No problem! As long as the job gets done, they don’t mind when you clock in. Get your work done on your schedule, and balance your life the way you like it.
  • Cutting-edge tech: You'll be working with a truly innovative cloud-based EEG platform. It’s healthcare, but cooler (think life-changing without the sticky electrodes).
  • Collaboration overload: Join a team that values communication and teamwork. Expect plenty of collaboration across projects and regular interaction with your colleagues.
  • Growth opportunities: They are a growing company, which means you'll have the chance to grow with them. Want to lead projects? Build new skills? They’ve got your back.
  • Fun vibes: They’re serious about their work, but they don’t take themselves too seriously. If you appreciate a good GIF or meme mid-project, you’ll fit right in.
