Senior System Architect

About the role

This position centers on designing and advancing technology architecture, with a strong emphasis on large-scale data processing, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML systems. 

The role plays a critical part in ensuring the platform can efficiently manage high volumes of data from ingestion through processing to delivery in a scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient manner across global operations. 

It serves as a bridge between product, data  and engineering teams, translating complex business and analytical requirements into practical, sustainable system designs. 

Responsibilities

• Design & improve the end-to-end architecture covering data ingestion, processing, storage and delivery
• Define scalable data pipelines and workflows (batch and near real-time)
• Develop efficient data models, storage approaches, and access patterns
• Architect systems capable of handling large-scale data growth, intensive processing demands
• Refine cloud infrastructure across compute, storage and networking layers
• Utilize cloud-native solutions and assist with capacity planning for peak usage
• Ensure an optimal balance between performance, reliability & cost
• Optimize costs related to computing, storage and data transfer
• Increase throughput and remove bottlenecks in pipelines and infrastructure
• Establish best practices for observability, monitoring, logging, alerting
• Enhance system robustness, fault tolerance, and recovery mechanisms
• Support incident investigations and continuous system improvements
• Define and maintain architectural principles, standards, and best practices
• Lead design reviews and ensure consistency across systems
• Maintain proper documentation and encourage knowledge sharing
• Collaborate closely with data, ML, DevOps, and product teams
• Support planning, estimation, and technical decision-making processes
• Provide guidance during implementation and act as an escalation point for complex challenges

Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in system architecture, solution design or senior engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with large-scale data platforms and distributed systems
• Strong expertise in cloud environments (Azure or AWS/GCP)
• Experience working with both batch and streaming data pipelines
• Solid knowledge of microservices, APIs and event-driven architectures
• Strong focus on scalability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency
• Advantage: experience with high-volume data domains (e.g., geospatial data, LiDAR)
